Ruby Banjo Baldwin was born on a cool and crisp night in late August of 2018. She is a bluetick coonhound with a ton of spunk and sass. According to her breeder, Ruby comes from a long and regal lineage of blueticks and is the great granddaughter of a champion bluetick named, Blue Diamond Jim. What a name.
Blueticks are a hunting breed of dogs. I do not hunt at all but I am in love with hound dogs. I grew up with one and they make excellent companions whether you hunt or not. So when the breeder found out that I don't hunt, she seemed puzzled as to why I am adopting a puppy with a strong hunting line.... I didn't have the heart to tell her that I was drunk when I sent over the deposit for Ruby. BUT it was the best thing I ever did for myself. She is a one of a kind gal pal.
Ruby is now my certified Emotional Support Animal. I take her almost everywhere I go. She brings such joy and comfort to me, it is always hard to leave for school in the morning. She enjoys snacking on sweet potatoes and pig ears. On sunny days, you can catch Ruby basking in the sun on the back porch.
